For the first time, an Afghan women entrepreneur established a design Center equipped with modern facilities. The center which is called "The Design Center of Afghan Carpet" is established with the financial support of EPAA.
In the opening ceremony of the center Mr. Suleiman Fatimie, the ChiefExecutive Officer of EPAA said that the center has been established for thepurpose of promoting design of Afghan carpet and in response to the needs and repeated demand of those businessmen involved in the carpet industry. He hoped that the establishment of the design center will help Afghan carpet have a bigger share of the international markets.
Researches done by the Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan (EPAA)of the Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industry on identifying standards, conditions and rules necessary to export to markets in Europe and United States, shows that the demand for chobrang and modern carpets has increased. Therefore, it is necessary for Afghanistan to adjust its supply to market demand in Europe and United States in order to promote export of Afghan carpet.
It is worth mentioning that a number of experienced carpet designers are working for the center who have worked in different fields of carpet design for several years and are aware of the market requirements and demands in Europe and United States. Undoubtedly, the establishment of the center, as intended by those who planned the center, will create a positive competition among designers of carpet in Afghanistan which will lead us to producing better designs and capturing bigger share of international markets. | |
