Afghanistan Awarded the Best Modern Carpet Design at Domotex Hannover 

Haji Nabi, owner of Zinnat Rugs won the Best Modern Carpet Design award at Domotex Hannover (www.domotex.de/43040)

Jury statement: A harmonious rug with great colors and strong commercial potential. 

Worth a total of EUR 10000 to the winners, the Carpet Design Awards (CDA) took place for the third time under the umbrella of DOMOTEX HANNOVER. A total of 148 carpets were entered (CDA 2006: 140) from ten countries (Germany, Iran, Canada, Switzerland, USA, Austria, China, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Morocco). 

EPAA in cooperation with BMZ/GTZ and USAID/ASMED supported participation of 28 Afghan carpet traders/producers for the first time at Domotex Hannover held from January 12-15, 2008.
